Hotels of Kunming China
Kunming has lots of great places to stay whether you are traveling here on business or for pleasure. Expo '99 drew millions of visitors from throughout China and the world to Kunming, and the city's vamped-up hospitality industry accommodated the added demand rather well.
The hundreds of hotels in Kunming range from top end five star luxurious hotels to budget accommodation. Most places are not far from the city center. Top of the line are the Golden Dragon Hotel, the King World Hotel and the Kai Wah Plaza International Kunming (formerly known as the Westin Kunming). During Expo 99, a few new hotels also appeared in Kunming, including the Harbor Plaza and the Courtyard Marriott. Many of the hotels in Kunming are concentrated in two areas of the city, one is on Beijing Lu near the railway station, the other one is the area near the intersection of Renmin Lu and Baita Lu.
A few budget hotels have long been frequented by foreign backpackers, such as the Camellia on Dongfen Lu, the Kunhu Hotel on Beijing Lu and the Yunnan University Guesthouse which are nice places to meet up with fellow travelers.
